Levy C. Hiers-Perez is the program coordinator and lecturer in the ASL/English Interpreting program and Deaf Education program. His courses focus on the history of American Sign Language and the American Deaf community and its history, as well as, instruction in American Sign Language and the linguistics of the language. He is also one of the faculty advisors for ASL Club, a co-sponsor of the regional Deaf and Hard of Hearing Consortium, and a co-organizer of VSU’s Deaf Field Day. His research interest is in the efficacy of students in Interpreter Training Programs (ITPs) and interpreting with consumers who are Deaf Multilingual Learners (DMLs).
